Well since creating a sustainable fashion industry is one of our top priorities, this subject is very important to us. Our goal is to make the entire fashion chain sustainable and ethical from A to Z. How does this chain look? Designs -> Fabrics -> Sampling -> Production -> Shipping. Let us show you what we do within each part of the chain :).
It all starts with the design. We aim to design items that will fit you right, that you can wear at least 50 times and that fit in your capsule wardrobe. We want you to feel the best in our items and how perfect would it be if you can feel your best with an item that you can make multiple outfits with and wear at least 50 times!
Of course a very important part of the clothing are the fabrics. At Roses & Lilies we use only natural or sustainable fabrics. We only use synthetic fiber in combination with a sustainable fiber when we believe it will give the item a longen lifespan. The kind of materials we have used thusfar are: linen, Tencel lyocell, organic cotton, Ecovero viscose and cupro.
At the sampling fase we try on our designs and decide if the fit is right, if the lengths are all right, if the placement of buttons/other details are the way we want it to be and we made the right choice of fabric. At this point there can still be adjustment made, so this part is very important to get the item totally right before productions. Therefore we are looking at all the specifics of the garment.
One of the most important things to us is to have the production close to home to keep our ecological footprint as low as possible. So we found an atelier here in the Netherlands where we can produce our collections. Another benefit of having the production in our own country is the fact that we can easily stop by and see the working conditions for ourselves and we know the workers get paid a living wage!
The shipping of the production goes by car, but since we produce in our own country the CO² emission is relatively low. To pack your orders we use vegan and sustainable materials. Our boxes, tape and ‘thank you’ notes are from recycled paper and can easily be recycled. The sticker we use are vegan! Something we are really excited about :).
We know that there is always room for improvement and things are constantly changing (for the better). So we have to stay up to date with these changes and hopefully we can create a more healthy environment within the fashion industry.
